Greetings from the farm on this beautiful 4th of July!
On July 2, 1776 the second Continental Congress voted in favor of independence, and 2 days later delegates from 13 colonies adopted the Declaration of Independence. From 1776 to present day July 4th has been celebrated as the birth of American Independence, away from Great Britain's overreach of taxation and government without representation.
I have heard the author of the Declaration of Independence, Thomas Jefferson, celebrated its signing by roasting whole hogs in which was perhaps the first official barbeque of America. We hope you too find a way to celebrate the freedoms of this nation with your family and friends, perhaps with some delicious, nutritious pork!
