It's All About the People

Our family has the opportunity to work with a great team of people on our farm that share our vision and work with us to care for our animals and crops. I recently had a great conversation with one of our team members that really made me stop and reflect…
Even though we are daily engaged in the huge, never ending number of tasks it takes to care for our animals, run a business, and produce a wholesome product for our customer, at the end of the day what we do is all about the people.
Our farm recognizes four core values that we operate by; integrity, relationships, stewardship, and continuous improvement. Embedded in all of these is our commitment to caring for people, utilizing our God given resources to touch people and improve their lives.
As our pastor often says, every person matters; every person has a name and every person has a soul. Whether it’s our employee, you our customer, our neighbor or those in the greater community as a whole, we strive to live in a way and farm in a way that helps improve each of their lives.
Sometimes this happens in the most unexpected ways, and sometimes it is very deliberate through the relational and stewardship processes that we have implemented in our business. I don’t want to gloss over the difficulties of carrying out this vision, and want to admit that we do fail at times. But on our farm, in all we do we strive to carry forward with our commitment to the people God has put in our lives, even in the challenging times.
As you move forward, I would encourage you to ponder. What is your reason for doing what you do? What is the purpose?
